Six questions. Nothing is scored, nothing is sent anywhere, and there is no result at the end. They are here because two things genuinely predict how this goes, and neither of them is talent.

Time

1I can protect an hour before each meeting to set the agenda and confirm the presenter.

2I can be at every meeting for the next year, barring the unavoidable.

3If a member calls me between meetings about something difficult, I have room for that call.

Willingness

4I am willing to be the person who says “let us come back to that.”

5I am willing to sit in a silence I did not plan, without filling it.

6I want the seat. Not only that the group needs someone in it.

Nothing here was saved.

If the time questions are a no, that is worth saying out loud to the group now rather than in month four. It is a scheduling problem, and scheduling problems are solvable.

If the willingness questions are a no, say that too. Not wanting the seat is a complete answer and a respectable one.

If you are somewhere in between, you are where most moderators start.
