This isn't primarily about financial returns. Other groups do that well. Forum's deepest impact shows up in dimensions that don't appear on a balance sheet — and research suggests those effects compound over years in ways that may surprise you.

This assessment draws on peer-reviewed research in positive psychology, social connection science, and adult development — not on claims we've invented. The validated frameworks used here include the Harvard Flourishing Program's Secure Flourish Index, Seligman's PERMA model, Waldinger's Harvard Study of Adult Development, and Steger's Meaning in Life Questionnaire. Where evidence is strong, we say so. Where it's emerging, we say that too. Financial outcomes are explicitly excluded — the evidence for those is weaker, and more importantly, that's not why people stay in forum for a decade.
